9 Year and Still Laughing

Today is our 9 year anniversary! I know people like to take in these mile marker dates and comment on how fast the time has flown by, and marvel at how “It can’t be 9 years already, can it?”

I’m odd in that I know it’s been 9 years. I say that because almost from the get-go, Jason and I have had to face some pretty heavy stuff in our marriage. It was a mere 6 months in that I was diagnosed with cancer. Not long after that came the birth of our first child, and then the launching of our first Access campus. More recently, we faced the crippling loss of a child together. We have seen a lot of miles in our 9 years.

But I’m here to tell you something amazing: we still laugh together. We laugh more together than with anyone else. We love each other, and we are in love with each other. We enjoy each other. We genuinely want to spend time together.

This may not seem like a big deal to you, but for me, to look back on our path and note that yes, life has been hard, but here we are, still standing and still laughing? I see that as a testimony to God’s faithfulness and grace to us.

Happy 9th Anniversary, Love! You are my best friend and one of my heroes. I love you forever.
