Fear vs Freedom
It’s okay that my husband is my favorite preacher, right? I sure hope so, because I find myself constantly challenged by what he teaches us each Sunday. Yesterday was no exception. Honestly, I took so many notes, that this message will probably wind up inspiring several blogs. It was a message filled with the challenge of accepting God’s love for us as a reality. One line in particular, however, jumped out at me so hard that I had to share it with you guys:
“Your fear establishes the boundaries of your freedom.”
It’s funny that these two things – fear and freedom – are so closely tied together, because they are, essentially, the antithesis of each other. I think what people who are in bondage to fear crave most is freedom. The level of our freedom is going to be determined by the level to which we have allowed fear to rule in our lives. If we are constantly trapped and ruled by our own fears, then our freedom will follow and be incredibly limited.
Today, don’t let your freedom be dampened by paralyzing fears. Instead, take a look at your life and assess where you are and where you want to be. Have you let your fears set the boundaries of your freedom? Don’t let them anymore! Let’s lessen the impact we allow fear to have in our lives, and, in doing so, widen the boarders of freedom!
