Fan or Follower: Part 1

Our church has recently launched a new series entitled, “Not A Fan.” It is based on a book of the same title by Kyle Idleman. The idea is that many people are fans of Christ, without really becoming His followers. We can know about someone without really knowing them, can’t we? I was so incredibly challenged by the concept of trying to live a life where I don’t just add to my knowledge of God, but also my intimacy with Him.

My daily Bible reading has me in the book of Ezekiel and I came across this verse the other day:

“My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain.”

– Ezekiel 33:31

This is what I want. I want to not just hear, but do. I want to not just know about God, I want to know God. I want to be more than a fan, I want to be a follower.
