The Circle of Why
These verses popped up in my daily Bible reading this morning:
“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,’
declares the Lord.
‘As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts’.”
– Isaiah 55:8,9
You can waste spend a lot of time going around the circle of “why?” What is that, you ask? It’s a never-ending cycle of questioning why certain things are happening or have happened to you, and finding yourself stuck in a circular journey that isn’t really taking you anywhere. In short, the circle of why is more than just a dead end, it’s a deceiving motion that makes you feel as if you are going somewhere, only to bring you right back to where you started. You’ll find that you end up more frustrated with each pass around the circle.
Today, jump off the circle! Read the verses above and release your need for understanding to God. He’ll take care of it. Sometimes, He’ll help you see and understand in a new way, and sometimes, He’ll just change your need for understanding altogether. There’s comfort in knowing that even when I don’t understand, He does. That’s enough for me.
