Don’t Speak

 In Life

Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues. (Proverbs 10:19 NIV)

The title of this blog may seem to be an odd contrast to my usual mantra – always urging you to go! and do! But I’m learning that sometimes the best thing to say is nothing at all.

With the age of media being as prevalent as it is, we often feel the need/right to speak about every single thing within moments of it’s happening. But…why? At the end of day, has what I said added to anything? More often than not, loud opinions boasted through media can lead to dissension and discord. Many times our opinions are based on half truths and limited information, and, as such, are not a true reflection of the whole reality of what is actually occurring.

Should we never speak up? No! There are many times when we will be called upon to give an answer for unasked questions of society and life. I would humbly suggest, however, that those opinions will hold more weight in the end, when we actually save them and use them sparingly. The more you say, the more your voice can become white noise. Let’s let the times we do speak up count!

Today, think, then speak.
