When No One Is Watching

 In God, Life

Who are you when you’re alone? Who are you when you’re away on business and away from your family? Who are you when no one knows you’re a Christ follower? Are you the same person no matter the location or situation, or do you have a different persona depending on the circumstance or people group that you find yourself in?

Integrity is a challenging concept. We have no problem acting Godly on Sunday mornings. Yet doesn’t it feel at times like we somehow decide we’d like some “time off”? Time when we don’t have to worry about the kind of person we’re presenting? Time when we don’t have to be concerned about the words that we say or the choices we make and how they may reflect upon us? The problem with that concept is that there shouldn’t be that wide of a discrepancy between your personas in the first place.

Being you needs to be genuine, and true to the person that you are at all times. There shouldn’t be anything to filter depending on the scenario or surroundings. Integrity means being you no matter where you go, who you’re with, or what people do or don’t know about you.

Today, evaluate. Are you holding to consistency in every area of your life? Pray and ask God to show you areas of your life that need a touch of integrity. He sees. He knows. Be yourself…all the time.
