Comfort: Paying It Forward

 In God, Life

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

You have a job to do! If you’ve been given comfort in a hard time – comfort others! If you’ve been given encouragement when you needed it – encourage someone else! I’m learning in life that so few things are ever just about me. No, for the most part, there is always a bigger picture. I find comfort in a time of distress, only to encounter someone shortly after who is going through a similar crisis. My job? To pass on the comfort I have received.

God’s blessings in your life are not just for you to hoard and store. They are given with a purpose in mind – a way to not only bless you, but to continue on and bless someone else that will cross your path as some point. The question is, are you going to be sensitive to keep that in mind and look for those that God has called you to help? Will your heart quicken as you see someone who looks oddly similar to how you looked in the time before you received God’s comfort? What will you do?

Today, pray and ask God for opportunities to use the things He’s graced you with for the benefit of someone else. It’s time to pay it forward.
