Starting Your Day Out Right

 In God, Life

I have a confession to make. I am not a perfect mom. I’ll give you a minute to pick yourself up off the floor after the inevitable shock has worn off. I know, I know, but it’s true. There are many days (more than I care to admit) when I find myself short on patience, and high on snappy retorts, sighs of frustration, and anger. I may have even had to have called my husband on occasion, and demand that he come home from the office, so that he would save me from the kids and the kids from me.

Upon reflection, however, I began to notice a common trend in those days. I noticed that those were often the days when, instead of starting my morning with prayer and time in the Word, I jumped into the day, allowing my flesh to take over. Light bulb moment! I had to remind myself that to flow in the beautiful fruits of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control – that I actually had to be of the Spirit.

So today, before you get too far into your day and your flesh jumps into auto pilot, stop. Take a moment to invite God into your day and then allow His Spirit to be your companion. You may just find that you have more patience for your kids, your spouse, and even, yes, yourself. Let Him make a difference in Your day today. You’ll be glad you did!
